Horror Hall

Horror Hall in West Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, is a legendary haunted attraction, celebrated as Northeast Pennsylvania’s biggest and longest-running all-indoor haunted house, with over 40 years of terrifying tradition. Housed in the former Tilbury Community Center, a one-time high school and elementary school, this 20,000-square-foot haunt delivers a 20- to 25-minute journey through more than 24 bone-chilling scenes, blending old-school horror with modern innovation. Guests navigate a labyrinth of detailed sets, including a shockingly realistic asylum sequence, a creepy “Silent Hill”-inspired doll hallway, a gruesome morgue, and a disorienting swamp maze, all enhanced by Hollywood-quality special effects like strobe lights, dense fog, and immersive Halloween-inspired soundtracks. Over 50 volunteer actors, led by a dedicated team including technical director Zak Knoll, deliver high-energy scares through jump tactics and eerie interactions, with standout characters like mutated creatures in a hazmat containment unit and hillbilly-themed ghouls in a disturbingly authentic backwoods scene. The haunt’s props, such as sacrificial altars, skull-filled rooms, and hand-crafted animatronics, create a visceral atmosphere, while the pacing of groups ensures an intimate, immersive experience, though occasional bottlenecks may occur in high-intensity areas. A climate-controlled indoor waiting area features creepy entertainment, keeping guests on edge, and an outdoor parking lot party offers food vendors, Halloween craft stalls, and nightly midway performers, adding to the festive yet spooky vibe. Proceeds support local charities, including the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors and school events, reflecting its community-driven spirit. Due to the haunt’s tight spaces and intense scares, it’s not recommended for children under 10 or those with mobility issues. With its rich history, innovative set design, and passionate performers, Horror Hall offers an unforgettable Halloween adventure for thrill-seekers.
